all that jazz
As a side effect, I installed some jazz radio on my blog. I really love it, it produces so much lovely, old fashioned music, so happiness is nearly guaranteed. However, the whole thing is not absolutely quirk-free.. there are a lot of christmas songs falling in this category, so it happens that randomly rudolph the rednosed reindeer comes along, followed by some unbelievably funny and hilarious 'oh tannenbaum' sung by some englishspeaking guy with a marvellous german prononciation!! so even very comical moments are ensured! isn't it great what a little radio can do?

presents?? presenting??
enjoy also all the other variants where this nice verb can be used:
about books
But nothing, absolutely nothing replaces the feel of owning a whole piece of complete knowledge in your own possession.
Besides which, books smell nice, look pretty, can be read in any position, you can make your own notes in the margins, are infinitely portable and can last for a lifetime. They're basically the perfect technology.
Heh, true. Nobody's managed to obsolete them yet, after a couple of thousand years. A little less if you only count from the time of Gutenberg. And nobody's figured out how to ruin them with DRM yet, either.
Although I guess that should read ARM (Analog Rights Management)....
At least until then, it's one place where fair-use rights undeniably apply: No one has yet been sued for lending a book to a friend... Notice I said "yet" again.... :-)

If in the need of personal space...
"Noli tangere circulos meos." Archimedes
[For the less classically inclined, it is usually translated to: "Do not disturb my circles!" - "Störe meine Kreise nicht!"]

Südtirol - eine Welt für sich...
Endstand
1. Manfred Mölgg (Südtirol) 1:42,29 Min. (52,43/49,86 Sek.);
2. Ivica Kostelic (Kroatien) 1:42,70 (53,07/49,63);
3. Marcel Hirscher (Österreich) 1:42,78 (53,32/49,46);
4. Jean-Baptiste Grange (Frankreich) 1:42,84 (53,12/49,72);
5. Reinfried Herbst (Österreich) 1:42,93 (52,74/50,19);
6. Felix Neureuther (Deutschland) 1:43,15 (53,43/49,72);
7. Ted Ligety (USA) 1:43,52 (54,44/49,08);
8. Cristian Deville (Italien) 1:43,56 (53,29/50,27);

10. Giorgio Rocca (Italien) 1:43,87 (53,81/50,06);
6. Felix Neureuther (Königreich Bayern) 1:43,15 (53,43/49,72);
Servus und ski heil aus der Haupstadt der Welt! ;)
bizarre night
Ok, the first thing was definitely given, the music was... well... you could kinda hop around to it. And you go around dance a bit, lounge at the bar and - wait!! What was that little thing passing me there?? I did not even drink anything so far! And - there's even more of those... there are so many!! And you keep looking around and you wonder... WHERE the f... all these little, 14 year old KIDS came from, infiltrating your party, turning it into a playground and making yourself feel like your own grandmother/grandfather respectively, and scaring the living daylights out of you by the way they are dressed and painted in their faces... So the whole party got swamped by busloads of underaged monsters which added quite a particular facet to it. Additionally, we had some special show by some of our completely pissed fellow students who rolled on the floor and showed their blank butts during the award ceremony for the races and tournaments. Saucy...
To my shame I have to admit that I escaped from the place quite soonish and joined an emergency team to clean up the university at 2 in the night which was seriously comical and funny. Obviously, this effort had to be rewarded and caused a spontaneous party at some flat. It was quite better than the first one (and no little babies turned up to spoil the fun and wonder about education and police nowadays) so it went on for long.. I will go to get some breakfast now.. :)

Happiness
* appreciation for being alive
* rehearsing with the quartett
To me, the first one is what keeps me going in good and bad times, because in the end, if I would not exist, I could never experience anything. It gives me the feeling that life is good.
The second one is the one that frees my soul, that lets me breathe and feel my emotions with an intensity that hits me ever again. Something in communicating with the others creates an energy which sweeps me with its flow and for this time the world is perfect.
In this spirit, this post is dedicated to Simone, Laura, and Ildiko, for all these hours of wonderful music. Probably they will never read it, but somehow it doesnt matter to me :)
(For your planning, we will play in concert on the 30th of May, in Auditorio Haydn, Via Dante. I very cordially invite you, would be really glad to see you there!)
(and, sorry for my enthusiasm, tomorrow I will be back to normal ;)
