generally it's nice to think that the responsibility for making many things in life run smoothly is distributed on more than just my shoulders.
big drawback: if you've done your best you're in for a violent shock when someone else turns up to tell you they seriously screwed it up.

shared responsiblity means no responsibility unless everyone puts serious efforts to hold each other accountable, which can turn into quite a peksy type of thing.
i suppose it depends on what is at stake, as well as people's priorities. if they are well aligned, shared responsibility is quite a useful thing - but to align them, communication would be needed and that one's usually tricky :p
