wishful thinking

it would be so nice to travel to a place in europe where germans didnt make all that terrible mess during WW2... but i guess it's impossible, so i will have to get used to the knot in my stomach which is bound to form each time i read through a travel guide.

Why do you bother about this? You were born in one of the great nations and great nations always have lot of blood in the past. Just travel a bit outside the Europe, and then you will see that the bat guys were also British, Chinese, Japanese, Americans, etc.

At least Germans are strong and fair enough to admit their mistakes.

P.S. It seems that Romāns is still on the spirits of new Batman edition.

If you relate yourself to the bad works done by you folks, probably it is the price one has to pay in order to be allowed to be proud about good works (e.g. literature) done by this nation. You may choose not to care, but then you should also not be proud of your nation, because of the choice not to relate yourself (I imagine it is not fair to ignore the bad and to be proud about good works only, though it is the most common approach, I imagine). I personally fail to relate myself with any achievements of Lithuanians except that I like the knight Vytautas and Kestutis, but it is kind of liking you can have towards tales.
