What does it mean to you?

Being in the middle of the European Championships, the issue of patriotisms surfaced again. It's a part of culture that feels a bit strange to me, and I wonder how you feel about it. Should one be patriotic, and why (or why not)? And what classifies as it?

In this sense, I invite you (even ask you) to share your ideas on the matter with me. To get started, I will attach an extract from a dictionary.

on my nerves

There seems to be an interesting balance in life: Whenever I realise something a person does really annoys me, it is very likely that I will also find someone else to which I unintentionally do just the same. In some sense this seems like balancing justice, and at the same time like an extremely valuable test bed for human behaviour. Nevertheless, I can't stop this thought unnerving me.

about friendship

Sometimes a few moments are enough to take a person you've never met before into your heart, to be as close as if you had known them forever, and to miss them dearly as soon as they are gone. Rarely joy and pain follow one another so quickly, but the state of bliss about this openness is so precious that it outweighs any sadness.

number crunching

When processing the results of several test runs 2 oddities came to my mind. Both are rather straight forward but still somehow surprised me:

#1 some numbers are more likely than others but the pattern seems still unclear

#2 an excel sheet is just not a database..

if you flee, do it properly

after getting the simple past wrong for long enough, I decided to look it up.. if you flee you at least want to make sure to not leave a bad impression, don't you?
