for some of you, I was - yesterday...
for some of you, I will be tomorrow.
for some of you, it will take me more than that.
but when it is time, I will be back.

Life is full of surprises
There is this difficult trade-off in life: either you try to never make plans and let everything come to you, but still feel you're not satisfied because there is no goal and aim and only random things happening. On the other hand it seems that, no matter what plan you make up, it is very likely to be crossed by some event that you couldn't possibly have imagined. And this unpreparedness can turn to incredible frustration. In these cases, however, it is lucky if you are able to find that this unthought of possibility opens up entirely new ways to you. It might not be enough to compensate for the loss of your plans though, at least initially. So what is the result of this? I just wonder, if the only way to get by is to make your choice and then see what life offers you and if things go differently to repeat the procedure?

Mirrors
For a long time, I have been startled by the phenomenon that people I know reacted so differently when interacting with different people around them. Recently, however, I've come to meet or better know some people very different to me and I've come to realise that my own behaviour changes rapidly according to theirs. It is a bit similar to (how we always enjoyed as kids) someone being without voice and wispering and suddenly everybody is talking silently. They still send more or less the same messages but the tone is entirely different. Now I could experience the same thing on myself, and on some occasions I hardly recognise myself, suddenly being more straightforward, softer, more aggressive... Now I just wonder how this reaction is balanced... if it is even, so both characters influence the mood of the situation or if one or the other forces itself on the other one? In a sort of hierarchy of moods or attitudes..? Who is the mirror and who the one being reflected?

Led Zepling - Stay away from haven
or what people do to disguise good music... It is not the first example of nice spelling of music titles but this seemed a really stunning example to how people percieve foreign language texts, slogans and lyrics...
In Germany, recently a survey was conducted to find out, how much people were understanding of the fancy English advertisement lines. The result was - how to put this? - spectacular.
One example is the following article, 'Life by Gorgeus - Leben in Georgien'
As a result of these findings, the trend now seems to move to a re-germanizing of the marketing scene ('Come in and find out').
We'll see how things will continue, just "Kommen Sie rein und finden Sie wieder raus" :) Enjoy!

old joke

name analysers
I can understand that people want to know what their name means... however, on occasions, I'm a bit startled by the results of some of these thing that are sent to me. (Ok, I admit, I'm trying them, out of curiosity... ;)
For example, there is the following alphabet:
A : You like to drink
B : You like people.
C : You are really silly.
D : You like to drink.
E : awesome kisser.
F : You are dead sexy.
G : You never let people tell you what to do.
H : You have a very good personality and good
looks.
I : You are great in bed.
J : People Adore You
K : You're wild and crazy.
L : You like to drink
M : best kisser ever.
N : You like to drink.
O : Easy to fall in love with
P : You are popular with all types of people.
Q : You are a hypocrite.
R : Easy to fall in love with.
S : Fuckin crazy.
T : Easy to fall in love with.
U : You really like to chill.
V : You are not judgemental.
W : You are very broad minded.
X : You like to drink
Y : Best g/f b/f anyone could ever ask for.
Z : Always ready
which would yield
V : You are not judgemental.
E : awesome kisser.
R : Easy to fall in love with.
O : Easy to fall in love with.
N : You like to drink.
I : You are great in bed.
K : You're wild and crazy.
A : You like to drink.
I'm not sure this was what my parents had in mind when giving me that name... (luckily there is another one, but I'm not going to tell).
On the other hand, there is some snazzy application for facebook, the name analyzer... According to the application's page, "A sophisticated computer algorithm analyzed your name, discovering the following meaning." Well, I found that this algorithm must be incredibly sophisticated, especially considering the result it yielded for me..
Especially the mixture of adjectives was such as to amaze me deeply. Maybe I have some hidden split personality, needed as a dump for accomodating all of these qualities.
Luckily, there is some other way for figuring out the meaning of ones name. It is not that modern but still on occasions a bit mysterious and interesting. One could just go back to find the etymological roots and, once found, their meaning is quite likely to contain a bit more sense :)

adam and eve
Sometimes women are overly suspicious of
their husbands. When Adam stayed out very
late for a few nights, Eve became upset.
"You're running around with other women," she
charged.
"You're being unreasonable," Adam responded.
"You're the only woman on earth." The quarrel
continued until Adam fell asleep, only to be
awakened by someone poking him in the chest.
It was Eve.
"What do you think you're doing?" Adam
demanded.
"Counting your ribs!"
